Senator Brian Langley


Senator Brian Langley was re-elected on November 6, 2012 to represent Senate District 28, which includes the Hancock County communities of Bar Harbor, Blue Hill, Brooklin, Brooksville, Central Hancock, Cranberry Isles, Deer Isle, Ellsworth, Frenchboro, Gouldsboro, Hancock, Lamoine, Mount Desert, Sedgwick, Sorrento, Southwest Harbor, Stonington, Sullivan, Surry, Swans Island, Tremont, Trenton, and Winter Harbor. The district also includes Knox County's Isle au Haut.

Senator Langley is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs, which he chaired during the 125th Legislature. During  the 125th Legislature, he also served on the Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources.  Additionally, Langley was appointed to the Lobster Management Policy Council and the Education Commission of the States in 2011.

Senator Langley served one term in the Maine House of Representatives, representing the communities of Ellsworth, Otis, and Trenton. While in the House, Langley served on the Taxation Committee.

Senator Langley is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine and Syracuse University. He is an entrepreneur, chef, and educator, having spent the more than 27 years teaching culinary arts at Hancock County Technical Center. Brian also owns the Union River Lobster Pot restaurant in Ellsworth. He is involved with Boy Scout Troop 86, a board member of the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth, and treasurer of the American Culinary Federation's Downeast chapter.

Senator Langley and his wife, Jane Bromley, have two children, David and Sarah.
